The 18 year old American plowed through the tournament without dropping a single map.
Yesterday MCS Gaming player Marcus “Strongsage” Macias secured a comfortable win in Estoty‘s 35th Duel tournament after defeating Belarussian Quake legend Alexei “cYpheR” Yanushevsky with a 3-0 scoreline in the Grand Finals.
The young prodigy went undefeated the whole tournament, taking down several notable names such as Pavel “bukster” Bartkevics, David “ZenAku” Addati and Alexander “baSe” Rybin before finding himself in the Grand Finals, where he beat cYpheR in two maps (the American had a one map advantage due to coming from the upper bracket): 9-7 on Awoken and 8-5 on Insomnia.
In the Winner’s Interview by ShaftasticTV, Macias explained he wasn’t happy with his performance after starting to compete again after QWC 2022, and stated he has made sure to stick to healthy routines and proper aim practice:
“What you do outside of the game matters for maybe 90% of your performance. Like how healthy you are with your routine. Going to sleep early, getting plenty of exercise, eating well… All of that matters so much for having a clear mind, and that you’re ready to compete. And I think I’ve been doing that this past week and it’s really paid off.
