Australian Dan “dandaking” De Sousa has secured his ticket to Quake World Championship 2023 in Grapevine, TX after beating pinkey 2-0 (Awoken 14-3, Ruins of Sarnath 14-4) in the Grand Finals of the APAC qualifier.
De Sousa will get another shot at qualifying into the Pro League after a failed attempt at Quake World Championship 2022 in Bucharest, Romania, where he finished last after losing his two opening matches.
The former Corvidae player had a great performance at home soil tournament kuachicon last September, where he finished third place and took home $3,500 AUD.
After a disappointing qualifier last year, where only five players attended, this year’s qualifier for the $150,000 World Championship saw 30 players attending. However, that was no problem for dandaking, as he easily swept aside all opponents, only dropping one map throughout the tournament.
dandaking joins Challengers Keltz, bukster, cnz and GaRpY in Grapevine, where they will fight for a spot in the prestigious circuit.
