The Russian tournament organizer and broadcasting company RESP have announced a 170,000 RUB (~2,450 USD) 6 player league with several notable players and talents.
RESP announced the league on their Twitter a few days ago, revealing the qualified players for Division 1. Among the CIS players Alexei “cYpheR” Yanushevsky, Alexander “baSe” Rybin and Petr “St0n3” Tarasov are Latvian Pavel “bukster” Bartkevics, American Marcus “Strongsage” Macias and Swedish Markus “Keltz” Mikaelsson.
The RESP League will also have a second division with a lower, but still notable prize pool, but the players have not been revealed yet.
Set for the Host position is Russian Quake 3 veteran Yuri “Frozen” Romanov, now known as YouraTheGuide. Greg “cha1n” Bouevitch and Kirill “cnz” Golubjov will unite under the role of analysts. Russian casters listed for the tournament are AGENT, AirWalker, Goodmouth and FromHeaven who will bring viewers through the matches on RESP‘s stream on WASD. It still remains unclear whether or not there will be an English broadcast for the league.
The league will run on a new format, where players are rewarded with prize money depending on their performance. Players will play each other in a Round-Robin format over five weeks, and every match will have five maps and 10,000 RUB to play for. At the end of the league, the top two players will face in a showmatch, or a “Supercup” as RESP calls it – a seven map showdown with 20,000 RUB up for grabs.
The league is set to start on Monday the 16th of January, and will span all the way until the 15th of Febuary. If you want to stay updated, follow RESP’s Twitter as well as the Liquipedia page for the tournament.
