Gojic and Mikaelsson, a recipe for success in 2v2
The Swedish-Serbian duo won KeenCon Team Series: April and €250 yesterday, beating Railed (RMV & dramiS) in four maps in the Grand Finals.
After a rather confident plow-through in March’s KeenCon Team Series, Markus “Keltz” Mikaelsson and Nikola “serious” Gojic under the Cheaters banner had a tougher time in yesterday’s April edition. After winning 2-0 against Russian squad Beda (PASITA & PepCo), the duo lost their Quarterfinals match against RMV & dramiS with a 1-2 scoreline, finding themselves in the Lower Bracket in the early stages of the tournament.
On the backside of the competition, however, the Serbian and the Swede went on to claw themselves back all the way, beating the likes of 120% shaft (faye & ChenZo), Buga (GaRpY & bukster), Chicago Dogos (maxter & rapha), END BIG (Av3k & k1llsen) and finally Hairy Jaws (ZenAku & BASE) in the Lower Bracket Finals. They then stood before Railed (RMV & dramiS) again for a chance at revenge, which they managed to get in the end – the English-American duo failed to hold the Cheaters back, getting beaten twice with 0-2 scorelines and losing the grip of the trophy.
The win for Mikaelsson and Gojic strengthens their 2024 domination in 2v2, marking their fourth tournament win together after having seen victories in Estoty’s 5th and 6th 2v2 tournaments along with last month’s Team Series victory. For Gojic, the streak is even longer; the Serb also took home the prestigious first place and €580 in Nations Cup 2024, where he together with his countryman faye beat USA 3-2 in the Grand Finals.
The Cheaters sit at the top of the KeenCon leaderboard (which at the time of this article is not yet updated) with 20 points. The bracket for yesterday’s tournament can be found here.
